Climate change is affecting every country on every continent. It is disrupting
national economies and affecting lives. Weather patterns are changing, sea
levels are rising, and weather events are becoming more extreme.
The world is not on track to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030. If recent
trends continue, the number of people affected by hunger would
surpass 840 million by 2030. In 2019, 6.9 per cent (or 47 million)
children under 5 were affected by wasting, or acute undernutrition, a
condition caused by limited nutrient intake and infection.
